The core business of the Board is land based asset management (including Dairy Farming and Rental properties) of lands in Ōtaki and Porirua vested in the Ōtaki and Porirua Trusts Board by the 1943 Act, and on other lands subsequently acquired or leased. The administration of a scholarship programme is the other activity.
The day to day business affairs of the Board are managed by a Farm Operations Manager and an Office Manager, reporting to the Board, with staff and consultants engaged to assist the managers in the management and operation of the Boards affairs.
The management of the business affairs of the Board gives expression to kaupapa tuku iho. The kaupapa include manaakitanga, rangatiratanga, whānaungatanga, kotahitanga, wairuatanga, ūkaipōtanga, pūkengatanga, kaitiakitanga, whakapapa, and te reo.
The Board office is situated in the Hostel Building of the Old Native Boys College, the site of which now houses the campus of Te Wānanga-o-Raukawa, at 144 Tasman Road Ōtaki.
